Symantec Live Update
by admin on Nov.24, 2009, under Case Studies
Symantec Live Update is an application that downloads security updates and patches for spyware, firewall or antivirus signature files. This does not mean that you can update the whole software to a newer version; example: Update Norton Antivirus 2006 to 2009 or later versions.
Live Update allows an installed Symantec product to connect to the Symantec servers where the database can be checked for updates; this lists definitions, URL lists and others. The updates are automatically detected, downloaded and installed.
There are two modes for Symantec Live Update, the Interactive Mode and the Express Mode. Interactive mode gives the user the option to select which updates they wish to download and apply to their computer. The express mode automatically detects the updates and applies them on your PC or laptop. The express mode also runs quietly in the background, without interrupting your computer use. Once the process ends, and the updates are installed, Norton’s pop up will appear asking the user to restart their computer. The restart can be done manually or through Live Update.

Symantec Endpoint Protection
by admin on Nov.22, 2009, under Internet Security, PC ( desktop ) Products, Symantec Products
Symantec Endpoint Protection is an advanced antivirus software that delivers unmatched protection against malware. It is perfect for a large company or a small business. The software connects all of the other PCs or laptops together where they can be managed by one consol.
Endpoint holds within itself, an antivirus, antispyware and firewall. It is a complete coverage from rootkits, bots, spyware and other pests that may try and harm your business. The software also controls peripheral devices of up to 50 users without a problem.
There are 4 levels of organization:
- The group
- Location
- Domain
- Client
The administrations can assign policies for different computers or laptops depending on computer movement. For example: a laptop in the bottom floor may have more restrictions than a laptop in the top floor. Depending on the size of your business some workers may have privileges others don’t. This is perfect for having upper floor managing accounts and databases that shouldn’t bee viewed by the staff in the bottom floor. It is like a big business management system for your employees.

by admin on Nov.17, 2009, under Case Studies, Symantec Products
Symantec offers a variety of Norton free trials software. A free trial is a great way to test out a product before buying. It is like doing a test drive before buying the car. The only difference is that a free trial usually lasts 15-30 days.
This allows the user to test every aspect of the software before making the decision whether or not to buy the product. You can go to the Symantec website and download the products from their site. You will be prompted with a screen that will ask for two options: buy/register for the serial key, or try the product for x amount of days.
Virtually every Norton product has a free trial option. Norton 360, Ghost, Utilities, Antivirus, Internet Security, Online Backup and the list goes on. If you are unsatisfied with your product simply uninstall it without purchasing it. This way you can save time and money filtering out the products you do want vs. the ones you don’t.
Norton free trials are the best solution for your Symantec software needs. They are fast, easy and reliable. Test run your Norton software today and find out if the product is suited for you.

Norton Removal Tool
by admin on Nov.15, 2009, under Case Studies, Symantec Products
Norton Removal Tools also known as SymNRT is a program that removes Norton software from your computer.
How it works:
Due to Norton’s strength in their software, some of the programs may be difficult to remove. This is only because some dangerous malware and viruses might want to remove and disable the anti virus scripts. Symantec has come up with a great solution for this problem. Norton Removal Tools will remove most Norton products.
Below is a list of the programs it can remove:
Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005
- Norton AntiVirus 2003 through 2008
- Ghost 2003, Ghost Version 9.0 and 10.0
- Norton GoBack 3.1 through 4.2
- Norton Internet Security 2003 through 2008
- Norton Password Manager
- Norton Personal Firewall 2003 through 2006
- Norton SystemWorks 2003 through 2007
- Norton Confidential Online 2007
- Norton Internet Security Add-on Pack 1.0 – 2.0
- Norton Save and Restore 1.0 through 2.0
- Norton 360 1.0 through 1.3
The only downfall of this tool is that the list of software does not branch out to all of Symantec’s programs. If your software is not on the list then do not install this tool because it will not remove it.
